After hearing the meek and mild words from Vontrece McNeil on the ESOM panel, I knew immediately that I wanted to feature her. I enjoy writing about those who are passionate about being the best version of themselves and Vontrece is nothing short of that.
As a merchandiser in New York City, Vontrece finds a balance in her fast-paced lifestyle by meditating and praying. At an early age she discovered that she was blessed triggering her to be bold and fearless whether it was portrayed through her choice of fashion or making big moves. " When I feel at peace...I just go with it. The older I become and the more I grow/develop, the more this is confirmed.", Vontrece tells YSB.
Now that we know a little about Vontrece, let's call her Von from now on...she's officially one of the girls!
As someone who loves breaking the rules, I was happy to hear that Von doesn't really follow trends. "When I see something I like, or get inspired by-it's mine! ;)" Now that's my kind of girl. The new trend is to create your own! Her favorite designer at the moment is Fausto Puglisi. If you ever wanted to go shopping for Von make sure you pickup and nice jumpsuit...she feels her absolute best when wearing a nice jumpsuit.
Von gives us the 411 below:
YSB:What are you most passionate about?
Von: Being a naturally passionate person in general, it's easy for me to be passionate about everything. But at the top of my list I would say finding my divine purpose/spiritually, and really understanding & being comfortable w/who I am-unapologetically.
YSB: Are you the career-driven woman or do you think you can balance it all (career, love, family)?
Von: Balance it all like a pro.
(Ugh, don't you just love how she spits out powerful answers like that?)
YSB: If you could work with anyone in the fashion industry, who would it be and why?
Von: Iris Apfel. She is literally me when I get older. At 94 years old, this woman is so wise, and her story is admirable. She's true to herself, and because of that she has been blessed with SO much opportunity . #goals
YSB: What does the color black represent to you?
Von: Chic, sophisticated, classic, & safe.
YSB: What's some advice that you would give someone who's thinking about moving to New York?
Von: Make sure you have a solid plan and are focused. Keep an open mind and be ready to go hard.
YSB: Are you a selfie queen, or the photographer friend?
Von: Ha! Little of both. I love a good selfie, but my friends swear I'm a photographer.
YSB: What's something on your vision board that you're willing to share?
Von: "I only attract loving people into my world for they are a mirror of who I am"
And that's our girl Von... isn't she great?
